Penn Law School Admission Interview (cont'd)
Penn Law,
nationally recognized for its Public Service Program, is also committed to
assisting students and graduates who are interested in public service careers.
We offer four Public Interest Scholarships each year (each worth more than
$80,000 in tuition reimbursement) to students who have strong academic records
and experience in public/community service, as well as a
demonstrated commitment to a career in public interest. We also offer
generous financial assistance through our Public Interest Loan Forgiveness
Program to our graduates who work in public service. Additional information
regarding our public interest funding and scholarships may be found at
http://www.law.upenn.edu/psp/students/index.html.
How helpful do applicants
generally find a campus visit?
We strongly encourage all
candidates to visit Penn Law to become more familiar with the school and the
University campus, see Philadelphia, and have the opportunity to attend the law
class. We offer weekly information sessions, which include a class visit, tour,
and discussion with an admissions officer, in the fall and winter months. Class
visits are offered on a daily basis throughout the academic year. Prospective
students are also welcome to take a self-guided tour of the Law School anytime during the year.
Do you have any special
instructions or advice for applicants who wish to visit the Penn campus?
Applicants who wish to visit the law school
should check our website (www.law.upenn.edu)
for our Fall and Winter information session schedule and class visitation
schedule.
Can you briefly describe
the housing situation for your students?
Penn Law students can select
from a wide array of housing options. Approximately 50 percent of the first
year class typically lives in the Graduate Towers, the on campus living quarters
for graduate and professional students. Those students looking to live off
campus will find the rents surprisingly affordable and ample housing options
near Penn and public transportation.
What distinguishes
University of Pennsylvania Law School and its students?
In addition to our
nationally-renowned public interest program, and our superior interdisciplinary
curriculum, the characteristic of Penn Law that truly distinguishes it from
other law schools is our commitment to a supportive community of
students, faculty, and staff. We ask students who choose Penn Law to be a part
of that community, contributing to its success – and to their own education and
professional development – by exercising a spirit of collegiality, an
appreciation of differences, and a willingness to engage colleagues and faculty
in ways that acknowledge, respect, and even celebrate the many philosophic and
experiential differences that appear in a community as rich in ideas and
backgrounds as Penn Law.
